International trucks cover every duty class from medium-duty delivery vans to Class 8 highway tractors, and they are everywhere in South Florida's commercial fleets. At Albert's Road Service, we have deep experience with the full International lineup — including the legacy MaxxForce engines that gave many fleets headaches and the current A26 platform that replaced them. We bring factory-level diagnostics and hard-earned troubleshooting knowledge to every International we work on.

International Coverage

Models We Service

LT Series (Class 8 Highway)

International's flagship highway tractor, replacing the ProStar. The LT runs the Navistar A26 engine or the Cummins X15, paired with Eaton Fuller or PACCAR automated transmissions. We service the complete powertrain, aftertreatment system, and the Diamond Logic electrical architecture that controls the truck's body and chassis functions.

HX Series (Heavy Haul / Vocational)

The HX is International's severe-duty platform for dump trucks, heavy haul, and construction applications. Common in Palm Beach County's building industry, these trucks run hard in the heat and demand regular service on cooling systems, PTO components, and heavy-duty suspension.

MV Series (Medium-Duty)

The MV replaced the DuraStar as International's medium-duty workhorse. Running the Cummins B6.7 or L9 engine with an Allison automatic, these trucks serve delivery fleets, utility companies, and municipal operations throughout West Palm Beach. We handle engine diagnostics, transmission issues, and the body builder electrical integration that medium-duty trucks require.

CV Series (Class 4-5)

International's lighter commercial vehicles serve last-mile delivery and service body applications. We work on the complete drivetrain and electrical system, including the body controller modules that interface with custom upfits.

Legacy Models — ProStar, LoneStar, DuraStar, WorkStar

Many fleets still operate older International models. We service them all, including the problematic MaxxForce engines that many operators have experienced issues with.

Powertrain

Engine Platforms

The current International lineup runs the Navistar A26 (12.4L) — a clean-sheet design that replaced the troubled MaxxForce platform — and Cummins engines (X15, B6.7, L9) across various models. We carry the International Diamond Logic Builder (DLB) and ServiceMaxx diagnostic software for A26 and legacy engine platforms, plus Cummins INSITE for Cummins-powered International trucks. For older trucks still running MaxxForce 7, 11, or 13 engines, we have the diagnostic experience and software access to manage the unique aftertreatment and EGR issues these engines are known for.

Know the Signs

Common International Problems We Fix

MaxxForce engine aftertreatment nightmares

If you're still running a MaxxForce-powered International, you know the pain. The original EGR-only emissions strategy without SCR led to chronic soot loading, EGR cooler failures, and turbo actuator problems. We've repaired hundreds of these systems and know the failure patterns cold. For trucks that have been retrofitted with SCR systems, we diagnose and service those as well.

A26 aftertreatment derates

The A26 is a much better engine than its MaxxForce predecessors, but the aftertreatment system still develops NOx sensor failures, DEF dosing issues, and DPF regeneration faults — especially in Florida's heat, which degrades DEF quality faster. We run complete aftertreatment diagnostics to find the root cause.

Diamond Logic electrical faults

International's Diamond Logic body controller system is powerful but complex. It manages everything from power distribution to custom body builder functions. Water intrusion, corroded connectors, and programming errors cause intermittent faults in lighting, PTO, and accessory circuits. We use Diamond Logic Builder to read fault codes, check programming, and trace wiring issues.

Allison transmission problems

Many International medium-duty trucks run Allison 2000/3000 series automatics. We diagnose shift quality complaints, torque converter shudder, and fault codes using Allison DOC software. Florida's heat stresses transmission coolers and accelerates fluid breakdown.

EGR cooler and valve failures

Both the legacy MaxxForce and current A26 platforms use EGR systems that develop problems. Internal EGR cooler leaks push coolant into the intake — a serious issue that causes white smoke, coolant loss, and eventual engine damage if not caught early.

Cooling system overheating

International trucks operating in sustained South Florida heat frequently develop cooling issues. Failed fan clutches, clogged radiators, and deteriorated coolant lead to overheating, especially on vocational trucks in stop-and-go construction traffic.

Factory-Level Tools

South Florida Heat Is Hard on International Trucks

High ambient temperatures in South Florida stress cooling systems, aftertreatment components, and electrical connections harder than anywhere else in the country. Our technicians are trained for Florida climate conditions — we know what fails first on International trucks running in this heat, and we come prepared.
